KINGSTON, Jamaica, Wednesday January 23, 2013 – Following another postponement of the trial of Jamaican dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel, the controversial deejay is scheduled to reappear in court on May 27 in connection with the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

The case, which was scheduled to get underway in the Home Circuit Court on Monday, was stalled because of insufficient jurors, prompting expressions of disappointment from the Crown and the defense who both said they were ready for the trial to proceed.

Kartel (born Adidja Palmer), fellow entertainer Shawn “Shawn Storm” Campbell, Andre St John, and Kahira Jones were further remanded, while bail was extended for the other accused, fashion designer Calvin Haye.

The trial was originally scheduled to begin on November 5, but Kartel’s attorney Valerie Neita Robertson was unavailable as she was appearing in another matter at the time.

It is alleged that Williams was murdered at Kartel’s home in Havendale, St. Andrew, on August 16, 2011. Williams’ body is yet to be found.

Media reports said that Williams and another man had been taken to the entertainer’s house to account for a missing firearm and were beaten. Williams was reportedly stabbed to death and the other man, who is expected to be the prosecution’s main witness, escaped.
